Here's three of my favorite rainy day tracks.
Life In Rain (mp3) by Remy Zero.
This is the best track from Villa Elaine. I think I first heard the album in a record shop called the Long Ear in Coeur d' Alene, ID. There'd be 20 CD's on a wall display connected to a stereo with headphones. This was especially exciting because, at the time, there was no such thing as downloading or streaming music. This is how I was introduced to Villa Elaine. The reverb-y guitar in the beginning of this song draws you in, but it's the sweet-sounding dual guitar picking in the chorus that seal the deal. Please listen, it's outstanding.
It's Good Indian Tobacco, My Friend (mp3) by Cornershop.
I spent a year living with my parents after graduating high school, going to college, and working to pay for it all. What my parents didn't know (or so I thought), was that I'd started smoking. Once I turned 18 and became of legal age to buy cigarettes, I figured I should. You know, to be cool. What shit. Anyway, I would leave the house, say I had to run some errands or something, and drive around town smoking and listening to this song. It's a beautiful track, sort of tribal and droning, with great percussion. It was early spring so it was raining a lot, and this song always fit the mood.
Trouble (mp3) by Coldplay.
If you listened to radio in the early 00's, you heard this song a lot. I bought Parachutes based on "Trouble" alone. We love to rip on Coldplay, but this song is great.

Aww c'mon, someone at least tell me they listened to "Life In Rain"...

"I See the Rain Again" by Marmalade is an achingly beautiful, melancholy, double-bass track harmony slothfest. Hendrix said it was the best song cut in England in, I think, 1966 (a pretty decent year), then he stole the hook for "Hey Joe."

For me, it's "Your Ex-Lover Is Dead" by Stars and "Pounding" by Doves (but only when it's really pouring).

I really liked the Remy Zero album. I bought it back when they were hyped b/c one of the band members was dating/married to Alysa Milano. 10 minutes is 10 minutes. Good tune.

For me, it's "The Rain" by Oran "Juice" Jones, but only because I like to remind people that his name wasn't Orange Juice Jones. Plus there's that bit about bein' like a squirrel to a nut, and we all now how that goes when the woman done wronged you....
