As much as I enjoy listening to her music, watching her videos, and attending her concerts, I’m of the opinion that Icelandic techno-sprite Björk is certifiably nuts. Brilliant, but loony. Last night Radiohead closed out their U.S. summer tour behind In Rainbows at the Santa Barbara Bowl. "We've bad a blast, generally," frontman Thom Yorke said of the itinerary. He also dedicated OK Computer's "Paranoid Android" to anyone who had surgery, saying "You're going to die soon. It's all going south." As countless other reviews will tell you, if you've listened to rap in recent years you've heard Skillz before. The Virginia rapper came up as a ghostwriter. Thursday night at the Blue Note in New York City, I had the pleasure of seeing Amel Larrieux for the 5th time in my life. This performance pierced me straight in my gut and soul. A little something something was much different from her previous shows. Amel's energy level was at an all time. It's not a secret that I've been waiting for this release since the announcement of the re-issue way back when. I've been a fan of Tiga since the first time I heard is stripped down electro version of "Hot in Herre." His mix on !K7 played over and over and over on various listening devices throughout the years. In short, I'm a fan of this Montrealer and yet I've still never seen him play. Boo.
