With all of the craziness of work and traveling and trying to have something that resembles a social life during my time off, I decided to have a day that was the opposite of that. So today, I spent my Sunday reading on the couch, drifting into and out of sleep, with Belle and Sebastian playing in the background. I just read about the death of George "Wydell" Jones, member of The Edsels, and composer of their lasting contribution to American pop culture, "Rama Lama Ding Dong." The record was made, in Ohio, in the late '50s, but didn't make any noise on the charts until 1961, when a NYC disc jockey started spinning it after The Marcels had a big neo-doo-wop hit with "Blue Moon."
