Today, as I peek my head out of my window in NYC, I smell "fall"- a peppery mix of decomposing leaves and firewood. Considering that whenever I stick my head out of my window, I am surrounded by brick buildings, not trees, perhaps it's more my imagination. Regardless, Fall makes me think of Halloween and knit sweaters and hot coco and cuddling in layers of blankets. So as I tuckered into PJs, I pondered the perfect song for fall. And I came up with this: Have y... MORE
On their Friday night / Saturday morning radio show "freak night" this weekend, Dutch presenters Giel Beelen and Gerard Ekdom received a rather bizarre phone call from 19-year old Otto, who claimed to be a terminally ill cancer sufferer hours away from committing assisted suicide (some forms of euthanasia/assisted suicide are legal in The Netherlands). The record was made, in Ohio, in the late '50s, but didn't make any noise on the charts until 1961, when a NYC disc jockey started spinning it after The Marcels had a big neo-doo-wop hit with "Blue Moon." The title of the original Dub single was "Lama Rama Ding Dong," but by the time it came out on ... MORE

I guess ole Rotten was much more of an icon than any of us thought....
The refrain is "Johnny Rotten has done an advert for butter..."
WOW. Johnny Rotten, your place in pop culture is secure!
Now I cherish having seen the Sex Pistols "cheat" me and so many others that January night in San Francisco way back in 1978....

A mellow version of one of my favorite Stones songs. Tori's voice suits my mood on a quiet Sunday evening.
