I still don't quite understand what The Festival Ball was all about, other than, say, hedonistic pleasures. Perhaps that was the point, or maybe it was tied to the Toronto Film Festival somehow, I never did find out. And even though the party at The Berkeley Church was a guest list only event hosted by Vice Magazine, it seemed that getting on the guest list was just a matter of knowing that the event was happening.

Camera Obscura is a band out of Glasgow that has passed through Toronto at least one other time this year, but based on some comments from the band, it sounds like they have played here more often. There seemed to be some concern that Toronto would be tiring of them, but that certainly wasn't the case for the all-ages show at The Phoenix last Sunday, the last show on their current tour. However, it was the first time I was scheduled to see them, and to make the show even more enticing, The Last Town Chorus was billed as the opening band.

Edwin played as the closer to the more-than-12 hour MQMusicFest which was hosted by Metal Queen Management and held at the Phoenix. It was a lineup of 15 bands, some with hair big enough to put Cher of the 80's to shame. It started around lunchtime and ran over schedule a bit with Edwin leaving the stage sometime after 1:30 AM. I arrived in time to catch a few of the bands in the evening and to see Edwin, a musician who brought lots of great music to my ears through the 90's and into the 2000's.
