Office Mogging

(11)

I always feel guilty listening to music at work. Maybe it is because I don't listen to the "easy listening" that attribute to cubicle dwellers, and my music habits demand that I devote at least more than 10% of my subconscious to what is playing. Am I alone in this feeling? So many people treat music as an ambient  environmental tool, which is what I do too, but on top of that I have a hard time allowing myself to listen. I feel that on some level I am goofing off. I wo... MORE

Hateful

Artist:
Album:

(10)
I was fortunate to have been a teenager/college student during the halcyon days of punk rock, and was fortunate to have experienced the electric feeling when bands like the Ramones, the Damned, and 'the only band that matters', the Clash, were in the midst of their finest hour(s). 'London Calling' is still one of my all-time favorite albums, and, in my opinion, no record collection is complete without a copy. Every track's a winner - here's one of the standouts among the... Rock Against Racism Turns 30

Artist:

Blog post image preview In 1978 the groups that rocked London's Trafalgar Square in support of the Rock Against Racism message included The Clash. Well, The Clash won't be there this year (R.I.P. Joe Strummer) when they celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary on April 27th, but I expect the event will be well worthwhile.
More info here, and a hat tip to Serge The Concierge for the heads up. The Clash playing for tens of thousands at the first Rock Against Racism event, photo nicked from h... MORE

With Mick Jones, once of The Clash, guesting with Alabama 3 at SXSW it just seemed like a good time to remind ourselves just how great the music of The Clash is. So here's a fave song, "London Calling." s

The Clash Live: Revolution Rock is a new documentary that gives an in depth look at their live performances. The film is directed by Grammy-winning producer Don Letts who took on the tall task of chronicling one of the biggest bands to ever come out of the U.K.
The film follows the band from the studio sessions with nobody around, to playing sold out shows in New York City. The film details the history of the band with the use of rare or previously unseen footage that promi... MORE

New DVD Features Rare Live Footage Of The Clash

Artist:
Album: The Clash Live: Revolution Rock
Blank (33)
I have mad love for Don Letts and therefore have no doubts that his newest project will be awesome. The former Roxy Club dj produced a film with rare live concert footage of the Clash which will be released on DVD in April and excerpts will be broadcast on PBS in early March. The film is called "The Clash Live: Revolution Rock" and it will be widely available on April 15th. Letts was close with the band during their heyday and some of the footage comes from his own coll... MORE

The Clash - From Here to Eternity: Live

Can I really add anything more to this review from Amazon?
"Touted for many years as the greatest live band in the world, the only surprise about this live album is that it's taken so long to appear. Recorded between '78 and '82, it captures the London punk torchbearers in all their fury--Strummer spitting out vocals like every breath is his last, the guitars of Jones and Simenon taut and abrasive. Even after all this time, songs like their debut album's scathing "Comp

Blog post image preview Now, as I understand it, we all pride ourselves on our music collection/selections/confections, whatever. Well, I contend that if you have a collection of Rock Music and it does not contain London Calling ,Your collection is sadly incomplete. The Clash took on the world with this album, and pinned it to the mat. The boys display an affinity for, and impressive command of a wide range of pop/rock/world music, becoming itself the umbilicus tying it all together. With their ad... MORE
