Hey y'all...
Da is outta surgery - Mum said it went very smoothly - she's waiting at the hospital to take him home. 5pm can't come soon enough for me.
All your kind words & thoughts helped not only me (a lot !!!!) but my parents as well. Looks like I can step off that _Merry Go Round_ for now & join back in the bliss, fun & total insanity that is MOG... while keeping an eye on my Pops to be sure he heals as swiftly as possible. THANK YOU :)
You know what, that last post gave me a bit of inspiration. Here's what I want to know: What is the best pop song you've heard this year? Whats the best pop song you ever heard, full stop? This serves a few purposes for me, honestly. I know I've got a different definition of what constitute a pop song than most people I know. So I want to know what is pop music to you. Something you sing along to? Something that makes you want to get up and dance when it comes on and yo... MORE
I know. I'm nearly 25 years late. I missed the bus but I'm unsatisfied. Yesterday I said to myself, "I'll buy a remastered copy of The Replacements Let It Be - one of the most critically acclaimed independent albums of all time." I literally said that to myself and everyone at Newbury Comics kind of tweaked their heads like I was a little left of the dial. I've had the Warner Brothers release, Tim for several years and I have to be honest with you, I really don't lik... MORE
One of the greatest rock bands of the 1980s gets a long-overdue catalog upgrade beginning in April with remastered and expanded CDs of The Replacements' Twin/Tone releases. Produced in cooperation with the band and longtime manager Peter Jesperson, the deluxe editions of Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash, Stink, Hootenanny, and Let It Be feature numerous bonus songs -- many unheard even among hardcore Replacements fans.
I am a video game junkie. I have been one for quite some time and still remember going to buy Maze Craze for the Atari 2600 with my allowance money back in 1978. Through the years gaming systems have come out, and each time I made the trip to the store in order to get my new fix. Something about losing yourself in your own little world has always appealed to me, and when Guitar Hero came out for the Playstation 2, my rock dreams were brought to life. I know that I will ne... The Replacements perform "Bastards of Young" and "Kiss Me on the Bus," from their album Tim, on the January 18, 1986 Saturday Night Live. In true punk fashion, they appear for the first time before a national audience (I think) totally drunk, out of control, stupid and beautiful. Some people think this is the greatest SNL performance in history.

The Replacements were one of rock's true supernovas. An incredible explosion of creative tension and then the endless fade, becoming discernable only to those with an ear trained and studied in the field of garage/indie/rocknroll. I forget who wrote this song, but he's got a reputation, I know that. Its quite a remarkable song really as the narator, shattered by a loss, stripped of love's (infatuation?) illusions, lashes out striking back at every hurt, real or ... MORE

So I'm innocently browsing through this week's EW, trying to get the scoop on all the returning TV shows I don't actually watch (Why do I do this? I skip over articles that don't immediately look gripping in the New Yorker, and only rarely discover them weeks later if the issue's been residing on the back of the toilet long enough, whereas I read EW cover to cover every week, even when it's about Ugly Betty. And it's always about Ugly Betty.), when what should I find but... MORE
I had a friend have an emergency appendectomy and I was searching for the appropriate hospital themed music. He came back with suggestions for a civil war piece that was kind of interesting. Evidently his surgery was kind of rough but he still has his sense of humor. Then I came accross this blog and felt compelled to join in just to see what the hell is going on. So now I am humming "Take Me Down to the Hospital" by the Replacements in my head. Funny how that works.... MORE
