Here is an AMAZING Minimatic remix of 'Che Les Ye-Ye's', by the King of the hipsters, Mr. Serge Gainsbourg...enjoy, and I defy you to refrain from shaking your booty to this...
Deception and double-entendre are two of the many things which characterise Serge Gainsbourg's music. But between you and me, there won't be any guile as I'll do my best to show you the different guises of Dr Serge and Mr Gainsbourg.
To start with, Monsieur Gainsbourg is not Mr Gainsbourg. He was born Lucien Ginsburg. The change of his given name gives you an idea of his poet... MORE
There is a great article in the October Vanity Fair magazine on Serge Gainsbourg (The Kennedys are on the cover). It's an extensive article that discusses his loves; music, women, the drink and living life to the fullest. In 1965, his song "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" was the Luxembourg entry in the Eurovision Song Contest. Performed by French teen singer France Gall, it won the grand prize. It was the first of many hits that he would have into the 70's or eighties.

So I was thinking today, when is it cool to be a jerk? When you're a smooth swingin'-60's-Gauloise-smokin'-cool-as-fark-French-mofo like Serge Gainsbourg, that's when. This track called "Requiem pour un con" (which translates to Requiem for a Jerk). This clip taken from the 1968 film "Le Pacha" shows one of Gainsbourg's best performances of his song which has been sampled by the likes of Gallic Hiphop phenom MC Solaar. Sit back, take a drag on your Gauloise and feel the beat.... MORE
Nibbling some fresh cherries and berries
Sipping an ice-cold cocktail in a hammock
Wading in the glistening surf
Lying about on the beach Strolling idly in the balmy night...
Ah, the countless pleasures of summer.
Then, there is this sweet music you like to listen to. Alfresco music which sings of the weightlessness of summer days.
"Sous le soleil" literally "Under the sun" echoes with our summery... MORE
Back in L.A. on biz, I had a chance to pow-wow with the esteemed Crash Pryor on a variety of issues before high-tailing it back to the studio. Great guy. Savvy guy. No bullshit guy. We chewed the fat and passed on the skinny until I had to get back to the set. All good. Then, things took a turn for the worse.
I had to hit an advance screening of the third film in the “Rush Hour” action-comedy series that teams the charming, peripatetic Hong Kong martial-arts star Jackie ... MORE
there is so much great music out there...in every genre...i try my best to be a musical sponge and just soak in as much of the goodness as I can. There are very few genres that I can not see the merit in...one actually, pop country...it hurts my ears...but just about everything else I am able to enjoy on some level...and it makes life so much better.
This song popped up via shuffle just now, and i love it. Not something I would normally buy or seek out...but its quality ... MORE
If you thought this.........
Then you need to get your mind out of the gutter.
Its Friday, and with spring approaching quickly, love is in the air. When I was teaching, this would be the month of spring break, and when the kids came back from vacation all the spring romances would begin. Same thing is to be said for adults, something about this time of year that makes you think love is possible.
My question is what song best represents the act of sex in your o... MORE
