It's impressive how 'psychedelic' Pink Floyd were in ’67 and ‘68. A fish-eye lens, a couple of trinkets and the glass house at Kew Gardens could make you seem on the bleeding edge of NOW. The English have always had a penchant for a bit of foppery but Floyd raided the dressing-up box with serious intent. Has any band looked more stylishly in tune with the times? Don't get me started on Floyd's unreleased back catalog. Despite the existence of film scores, entire unheard concerts, studio experiments and songs that never made it to album, the Floyd people continue to dump pap on us like the recent "Oh, By The Way" boxed set: re-releasing, once again, the entire back catalog. As many of you know, at this year’s Coachella Music Festival, one of Roger Waters’ inflatable pigs freed herself from her harnesses and flew off into the desert night sky. As a dyed-in-the-wool Apple "fanboi," I've been a huge fan of the iTunes store for several years. But recently, I've started buying from Amazon for several reasons, and thought I'd share a recent buying experience. I was shopping for Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon(the 1993 20th Anniversary remaster) this week. I checked iTunes, who wanted the standard album price, $9.99, which wasn't bad. These quotes about reunions and reunion tours don't always turn out the way I want them to. I haven't heard anything about a Led Zeppelin reunion tour in awhile, despite quotes like "You never know what is around the corner" and "The amount of work that we put into the 02 [reunion concert]... was probably what you'd put into a world tour anyway." Roger Waters lost his pig and is asking for your help. If you live downwind of Coachella, keep and eye out for a gigantic pig. Seriously, this thing could be your ticket to a better life. A wealth of live recordings will be released from the BBC broadcast archives for the first time ever, thanks to a deal between BBC and EMI. While EMI continues to relieve record execs with one hand, it's picking up music catalogs with the other hand. It's quite aggravating that the loss of Roger Water's inflated pig is getting more press than the show itself.
