On the one hand, a friend of a co-worker is a professional astronomer. His name is John Chumak and he runs a very cool website over at http://www.galacticimages.com . My co-worker always passes along new visuals from John that, I suppose, just don't quite make the cut for his pro-for-sale catalog. Last weekend, he took these images of Jupiter and two of its moons (Europa and Io) from his backyard. Europa Io Jupiter On the other hand, these images ... MORE

The first few seconds of Paul McCartney's upcoming single "Ever Present Past" brought to mind the opening to The Bob Crewe Generation's "Music To Watch Girls By". Very sixties. Paul always has cool song titles from "Helter Skelter" and "Fool On The Hill" to in your face titles like "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" and "Here Today". They're almost always poetic in title alone.
Of interesting note, his latest single is distributed by Concord instead of Capitol, wh... MORE
Sir Paul McCartney pens astonishing love song to ex Heather Mills
By Richard SimpsonLast updated at 1:14 PM on 05th August 2008 Throughout a bitter two-year divorce from Heather Mills, Paul McCartney showed great magnanimity in maintaining a dignified silence. But surely none could have predicted the former Beatle's first words about Miss Mills since the split would be so affectionate. Sir Paul has made an extraordinary step towards peace by penning his former wife a l... MORE
When Billy Joel performed the last concert ever at New York's Shea Stadium on July 18th, he brought a special guest. The Beatles' Paul McCartney wowed the crowd with Beatles tracks 'I Saw Her Standing There' and 'Let It Be'. Epic for the reasons that some 43 years before McCartney and his Beatles bandmates played Shea Stadium in what would be coined the first-ever stadium gig.

I have to admit, of the solo Paul McCartney releases, I've never been too into McCartney II with the exception of "Coming Up". But recently "Temporary Secretary" came on the shuffle and my only response was to crank that junk and do the saddest enthusiasitc-white-boy dance you can imagine. Allmusic of course berates the song, but frankly, it's genius. I mean, it wasn't quite ahead of its time (obvious Devo and Kraftwerk influence in there), but it was way ahead of the ele... MORE
I don't care if he's 65 or 96, anyone who has this affect on this many people is the embodiment of what the power of music is all about.
I got the shivers just watching it, can you imagine the joy this one person brought to 200.000!

Paul's outdoor performance Monday night in front of tens of thousands in the Ukranian capital of Kiev was nothing short of amazing. During thunder, lightning and torrential rain Paul performed a two and a half hour show in the former Soviet city that has never been host to a show by Paul or any of the former Beatles before. Paul opened with the Beatles classic Drive My Car and did many other Beatles hits including Penny Lane, Let It Be, Hey Jude and of course Back In... MORE
Because I recently heard an Emmylou Harris post on MOG featuring this tune I thought I may as well fly the tune as performed by it's author. From the 2002 "back in the u.s." tour
