Somethings up with things loading when I look at Mog pages today. Here's something that I've noticed for a while now but just thought I would point out if you haven't noticed. When I click on Lykke Li under Top Artists This Month at the bottom left hand corner it automatically is linked to the page that your already on. Like if I went to Ivy's Ashanti Afrika Jah post and clicked on Lykke Li it would lead you back to that post. Weird. It didn... MORE

Lately I've been wondering about international album releases and the music industry's grip on outdated business models. Now that the record biz is largely an online enterprise and albums are reduced to electronic files, shouldn't new releases be available everywhere at once? I've actually been in awe of a few of my music transactions this last year - GONE are the days of blowing a whole paycheck on small run import CDs that will never see an "official" US release! If you already have Lykke Li's EP Little Bit and you can't get enough of it, you're in luck! The Swedish siren just announced that she's going to release her full-length debut album in the US this summer, via her own label. The album is titled Youth Novels (you've probably heard of it) and it was produced by Bjorn Yttling (of Peter, Bjorn and John). Things you need to know that what I went through to see Lykke Li & El Perro Del Mar Live In San Francisco:
-Lost My Wallet with ID and The Credit Card I purchased the tickets
-Went to the DMV for 2 Hours and paid 22 dollars to get a replacement.....that they wound mail to me within 2 weeks. Wouldn't issue a temporary ID, however would issue a temporary License w/o picture
-Called bank for new card, the card will have different credit card number than the one I purcha... MORE

Well, I finally feel comfortable coming back to MOG after the Great Down-for-Maintenance Scare of 2008. Posts were lost! Messages disappeared! No MOGging for hours upon hours! Frankly, it was scary.
It just reasserted how attached I’ve become to the site and its denizens. Where would I go if MOG disappeared for more than a quick blip, brain-lock, or visit with Schloopy? (Where has that little furball been anyway?)

It seems everyone is ga-ga over Lykke Li lately. That is, everybody but me. I appreciate her music and her voice is darling too; it just isn't my cup of tea. But a new diskJokke remix of her "Everybody But Me" tune popped up today and finally I found the facet of Lykke Li that I love! Her voice is enchanting and haunting at the same time while the music is minimal electronica in a Matmos or Brian Eno kind of way. It's absolutely lovely and weird. Not only can you listen... MORE

So the little sassy Swedish pixie, Lykke Li, who has the voice of an angel and the temerity of someone far older than her 22 years, released her EP today in the US.
Her tour kicks off in Philly tonight and she comes to NY tomorrow and Thursday. I'm gonna be front row, eyes wide- I haven't been so intrigued in a female artist for a while.....(I think Anna also feels the same way?)

Lykke Li has a lovable new song up on RCRD LBL today, called "Dance Dance Dance." It's hard not to like this lighthearted song with its lullaby lilt. The triple D is from Youth Novels.
You can actually download it for FREE on RCRD LBL right now. The lovely Swedish lass will be in Philly May 6th to kick off her US tour. Lucky girl, she's also playing the Oya Festival in Oslo in July. I am sooooo jealous!

Another one I've been meaning to share for a long while now. Again, an album which hasn't seen US release yet, but I do believe the distro has been worked out for some time this summer... if I am not mistaken an EP may hit the US before that as an introduction to this crazy awesome Swede...

I love this chick!! She is from Sweden. Her name is pronounced kinda like "likely" and her debut album "Youth Novel" was produced by Björn of Peter, Björn and John. Her voice sounds, ahem, a "little bit" like Stina Nordenstam.
