Well, It is almost time to put the year to bed. It was a great year for music. I have compiled a list of songs that made my "Best of 2007" (See my Mog Page). The video below is one of the many tracks that made my list. Enjoy!
What did I miss in 2007?
It's so refreshing to be turned on to new music in unsuspecting ways. In this case, I was introduced to the band Loney, Dear a month ago, by a podcast that I rarely actually listen to. This little gem of a song, called "I Am John" instantly jumped out at me, and you all probably know the rest. Step one, listen to the song incessantly. Step two, seek out the album _Loney, Noir_. KCRW sent me this song a few weeks ago via the podcast "KCRW's Today's Top Tune". While the podcast is fairly consistent and fairly good, few of the songs grab me in the same way as this one did. Do you guys have any input on this album? Is it one I should seek out? They're on Sub-Pop so....that's not so bad. I took a gamble on labelmates like The Thermals and Constantines recently, and was not disappointed at all! And then there's Iron and Wine, and the Postal Service... MORE
