I don't often buy souvenirs at concerts, but after Leonard Cohen's concert in Montreal the other night, I joined the crush of people around the merch stand and paid for a tote bag. This is an amazing song, and this recording by Leonard Cohen, which is included on the excellent "The Essential Cohen" two-cd set, is incredible. So sad, so beautiful. I've listened to this song at least 100 times.
There has been much debate about the state of Rock and Roll since last September when the list of 2008 Hall of Fame inductees was announced. So last Fall I wrote a letter to Mr Cohen. I don't do such things. I carried it around for a few months, then recently discarded it.
