I've been digging John Hiatt since his new wave days in the early '80s. He's got a new album that I like a lot called "Same Old Man," which I guess is his way of sayin' that on this new album you get the same tried and true great John Hiatt music he's been delivering for quite a long time, only it's a new batch of excellent songs. this has to be my fav website ever, i never really used it to much, but the other day i said fuck it, why not check it out, and it was kinda kool, but when i found the gem of a song that is in this post, that made it my fav site ever, i just hope i can find more gems like that...
I was doing some thinking about songs that singer/songrwriters write about their kids. I found a particularly interesting set of songs that male singers sing about their daughters. Describing the relationship of a dad and his daughter is fraught with danger. Resisting the urge to fall into sentimentality or sappiness is very difficult and many songwriters aren't able to handle the pressure.
