I have some news for those thirteen or fourteen people out there who still give a rat's ass about the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Guitarist John Frusciante is set to release his second solo album. The Empyrean is scheduled for a January 20th release.
Apparently, former Smiths current Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr will appear on the record. That man will work with anybody these days.

Seriously. Can someone wrangle John Frusciante and throw him in a white jumpsuit, a la the Gibb brothers? His cover of this song inspired me to buy the Bee Gees greatest hits on used vinyl.
Are any of you familiar with some of the classic oldies he's covered? Fierce. Fierce.

Country Feedback is one of my favourite REM tracks, ever, and I've been a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers for over 20 years now (ugh! I feel old!).
To be pointed in the direction of this 2001 video of RHCP guitarist John Frusciante performing this REM song, was, eh, heavenly, to say the least.
In all honesty, it turned out not the best possible rendition of this song I had ever imagined, but nonetheless, still fills my heart with warmth. Enjoy.

In honor of Funky Friday, here is a clip of John Frusciante bringing it as no one has brought it before. Insane.
Have an awesome weekend, mogsters.
i just almost accidentally threw out this album, and it's one of my favorites. that would have been a tragedy. good thing i saw it before it was too late, especially since i never put this one on itunes. maybe i'll do that now. to celebrate my triumph over disaster, here's a song that has always intrigued me. the guitar is sort of hypnotic. and the i've always been curious about the title :)
