Jimmy Eat World's next tour will not be in continued support of their last album 2007's Chasing Lions. Nor will it be in support of a new album. Jimmy Eat World are going ten years back, getting back on the road in support of their 1999 classic Clarity. While some 17 bands, from Fall Out Boy to Yellowcard, cited this album as a major influence, which basically means Jimmy Eat World inspired emo, when I hear this news the first thing that comes to mind is, "Shit! It's be... MORE
I wrote this on my livejournal in a caffeine-fueled stupor last night. . .the nice thing I've discovered about hopped up on Red Bull is the things you say don't get any less true in the morning: "You know what is also really great is the new Jimmy Eat World song. It's so epic and self-assured. It's got such classic rockstar swagger and yet every time I listen to it, I still get this sense of 'look at us! we formed a band!' It's very sweet, in my opinion." To which near... MORE

In an odd stroke of coincidence, Jimmy Eat World has announced a 10-date tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Clarity, an album to which I was just listening last week and discussing with Eric. The band will play the album in its entirety – can you imagine going out on the 16-minute Goodbye Sky Harbor? [...]

The above, totally generic video for Jimmy Eat World’s (aka JEW - oh how we lol’d) song Always Be seemed absolutely hilarious to me at 7am this morning, probably because of the dude’s CP30-like match at around the 1 minute mark. On second viewing, however, I take a small amount of comfort in the video’s bog-standard tale of American High School Stereotypes in Love and the gentle, no surprises emo of JEW (oh, how we lol’d). Almost makes me yearn for the times when the l... MORE

This made me laugh and shudder today: I got an email via a "noreply" anonymous person who decided to remind me of my dark, dark past. A time when Jimmy Eat World was my FAVORITE BAND IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD.
The email simply said "NEVER FORGET" and had the following video.
Jimmy Eat World-Beautiful Day-Yo Gabba Gabba
I am so scared right now. I am so scared that my dark past will show itself in the worst way so I just wanted to come clean to you all. This is who I was. ... MORE

Have you ever heard a song so great that it changes the way you look at the world? A song so good that it gives you hope, not only for music, but for yourself? A song so good that it can be a light for you when everything else is dark. In 2007 i found just a handful of those songs, and Jimmy Eat World's Dizzy was the greatest of them all. Absolutely incredible from beginning to end. Perfect musically, lyrically, emotionally. This song still sounds fresh 100 good listens la... MORE
Jimmy Eat World"Chase the Light" Pretty good... "Stuck in 2001?" What is subjectivity? I was thinking about that the other day. The Oxford American dictionary defines “subjective” as an adjective that is “based on or influenced by personal feelings, opinions, or tastes.” To you, for example, this is just another album review. To me, however, a review is like Lindsay Lohan’s rehab stints: I try to take each one seriously and make it better than the last. Hence, it’s sub... MORE
2007 was an interesting year in music. For me it didn't really have that one definitive album of the year. That album that was 5-star tracks from start to finish. Last year that was Butch Walker's "The Rise & Fall". The year before it was Jack's Mannequin with "Everything In Transit", and the year before that, yet again Butch Walker with "Letters". Thats not to say 2007 didn't have great albums, but for the first time in awhile i had to consider what my album of the year w... MORE
it was tuesday night and i was bummed that i was going to miss the first leg of the champion's league semi-finals between manchester united and ac milan (i'm talking football, here). but i was ok with that because as against me! is to cam, new order is to coop, muse is to anna, authority zero is to ashley and one of any early 90s bands is to august, jimmy eat world has a special place in my heart. yeah, that jimmy eat world. the band who many probably think are a flash ...
