acid tongue , the second solo album by rilo kilean jenny lewis , didn't receive - or, we should say, hasn't yet received - quite the same celebration as her first effort, rabbit fur coat . but we still think it rather fine. one of our preferred songs from the album, "see fernando," first came to attention when she and the watson twins played it on conan back in 2006:

I'm always impressed by the ability to pull off a long song. Mostly because I usually don't like them, so when I do, it's exciting. The new Jenny Lewis, Acid Tongue, is very 60s and 70s, more accessible to me than her first solo album, but with a wacky, Hollywood-girl edge (intensified by a lot of Zooey Deschanel on backing vocals). I don't know many, but licking the new Jenny Lewis album might leave you naked, mumbling and shivering in a corner for the next thirty years. I wanna say it, dubbed Acid Tongue, is dropping September 23rd (that September 23rd release date is getting jam-packed!) but I think its more appropo to say you should drop the album that day. Get it? (Like you drop acid...cause it's called Acid Tongue..... and, like, look at all those Jenny Lewis acid tabs!) Dur. ... MORE

Jenny Lewis brought a heady mix of the sacred and the secular to D.C.’s beautiful Sixth and I Synagogue last night.

No rabbits were harmed for the making of this album. Rilo Kiley fans now have a little something to fuel their fire. As a follow-up to the Watson Twins tinged "Rabbit Fur Coat", Jenny Lewis has just announced the details to her second solo album dubbed "Acid Tongue." Yes, I downloaded the new Jenny Lewis album. But I am justifying this illegal act by a) going to see her in Nashville this weekend for the hefty price of $112 and b) buying the album once it officially drops/if it's on sale at the merch table. Jenny Lewis sheds the Watson Twins on her second and possibly permanent sabbatical from Rilo Kiley, but picks up a busload of famous friends and keeps some twang whilst also visiting plenty of other new destinations.

This week, Jenny Lewis released her second solo album, Acid Tongue, and I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced copy of the album for my "listening" pleasure. Unfortunately, the CD featured various copyright-protection security (it even has my name stamped on it) that only allows it to be played on a standard compact disc player, as opposed to the drives embedded in our computers. Why is this unfortunate? I don't have a standard CD player anymore. It didn't reall... MORE
