I've never been bowled over by this song, neither by the original nor by the various covers I've heard in my short time on MOG, but hearing this version Friday night in the context of the others, this one won me over.
Listening to the original in the wee hours last night I thought, damn these mothers are laying down some bad-A$$ed funk on the instrumental breaks. The Indigo Girls don't exactly break the bank on this one, but it's a pretty nice cover in any case. And I do really like those scraping violins.
You know what I love about this place? Every day I connect just a little bit more with people through the thing that moves me the most: music. This morning I discovered my twin from another mother all the way across the country loves this group as much as I do. I don't have any of their stuff on my work computer, and I couldn't find any vids of my favorite song of theirs, "Watershed," but I did find this one, which is up there among my favorites. My thursday morning sound tracks: New tunes by both the Indigo Girls and Barenaked Ladies. What is this, high school? Can I get some Ben Harper? Barenaked Ladies.. hmmm.. I was hesitant, so I only grabbed a few tracks off of eMusic. Do I dare call it... easy listening? One review called BNL the Charlie Brown of Canada.
