Johnny Cash (born J. R. Cash; February 26, 1932 - September 12, 2003) was aGrammy Award-winning American country singer-songwriter. Cash is widely considered to be one of the most influential American musicians of the 20th century. Cash was known for his deep, distinctive bass-baritone voice, the boom-chick-a-boom or "freight train" sound of his Tennessee Three backing band, his demeanor, and his dark clothing, which earned him the nickname "The Man in Black." He traditio... MORE
This song is one of the songs they play pretty much every night at the diner/bar I work at here in Spokane. The best thing is that pretty much everyone knows the words to this song, so everyone in the building is singing along. It sort of restores my faith in music and people, seeing everyone having a good time rocking out to classic Green Day. No one cares that they're "mainstream" and no one cares whether or not they "sold out". Everyone just loves it and loves Green Day... MORE
not much needs to be said about this song. can i just ask why this band became so huge recently by just slowing their songs down a pace or two?!
Green Day have pretty much taken Bono’s role in world domination. Not only did they appear on the season finale of American Idol this past Wednesday, helping their single and John Lennon cover “Working Class Hero” jump eleven spots to Number Fourteen on the Modern Rock chart. But now, Green Day have recorded the theme song for the summer’s biggest flick and we’re not taking about Speilberg's Transformers either. Green Day have recorded a new version of the Simpsons them... MORE
i should be writing my conference reports but instead i'm wasting time like a beast with no name. why does every fourth grader love green day? it doesn't matter if the songs are 10 years old, they still love green day. other hits with the fourth grade include queen, smashmouth, FLO RIDA! i have a kid who wears an AC/DC shirt all the time. it kills me. there was a girl last year who wore a ramones shirt. she was pretty awesome. and she played the drums and she had a ... Jordin Sparks was crowned the new season six American Idol at the end of Wednesday night’s 2-hour season finale. A record high 74 million votes were cast in the final round of voting that brought the seventeen-year-old Sparks head to head with Seattle native and the show’s first beat boxer Blake Lewis. In the end it was down to each final performance Tuesday night, which all three American Idol judges, Simon Cowell, a broken nosed Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, gave to Spa... MORE
Green Day's contribution to the John Lennon cover album, Instant Karma: The Campaign to Save Darfur, is a version of "Working Class Hero." The album is part of a campaign by Amnesty International to mobilize millions around the urgent catastrophe in Darfur, Sudan.
The video for "Working Class Hero" just went online, and you can check it out:
Is there any news about if Green Day is going to make a new album as Green Day? I know they just made one as the Foxboro Hot Tubs, but what about Green Day?
Green Day's version of John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" will debut today on iTunes, MTV, MTV2, mtvU, mtv.com and mtvu.com, according to Green Day's official website. The group performed the song live on "American Idol" last week. The video is directed by Sam Bayer (Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"; Blind Melon's "No Rain"; Smashing Pumpkins' "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," all the videos for Green Day's 2004 LP American Idiot, Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around.... There are a couple of newer songs I am listening to right now. One is Green Day's "Working Class Hero" and the other is Sum 41's "Underclass Hero." It strikes me that the names of these songs, both by pop punk rock bands, are so similar. I'm sure Sum 41 would love to be like Green Day, and I wonder whether these bands actually like (or know) each other. I am going to admit that I did not know that "Working Class Hero" was a John Lennon song until I saw the cover of the a... MORE
I found this article really kool. It gives an insight into Green Day's role in the new Simpsons movie to be launched soon!!! and how they created the characters to be based on the green day members!!... Here's what we do know about Green Day's cameo in the upcoming "The Simpsons Movie": It's happening. That was confirmed to MTV News by both the band's label, Reprise, and a spokesperson for 20th Century Fox studios way back in February, when a trailer for the film — whi... MORE
