Last night this song started playing on my computer & I was just astounded. I had heard it before but for some reason I was in the mood to truly appreciate it. Maybe the volume was a factor . . . . Fiona does an amazing job covering this. I love her phrasing and Jon Brion's production. Of course, I love 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and have to watch it every so often. It's like Lilth Fair, but not on wheel. Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple and Avril Lavigne have all been tagged for the first-ever Girlfrenzy music festival. The niche festival will be held on October 27th at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, California. Joining Crow, Apple and Lavigne are Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles and Antigone Rising. There are definitely a crapload of sad Fiona Apple songs.. but this one takes the cake. This is Fiona performing Oh Well on Craig Ferguson. She starts off semi-angry and hurt, singing to the guy who has broken her heart and continues to build on this emotion, only to end with such a helpless and feeble denouement, muttering the title words in such resignation. i love discovering new music... the rush of finding a new band that you can relate to and love. it's like a new relationship.. something unexpected happens.. i cool bass riff or a crazy vocal arrangement... and you feel the tingles... but i think more than that i might love rediscovering old music. songs that years ago were new and exciting that have long ago been put on my shelf and forgotten about. pulling them out and remembering the first time i heard them. how it seem... My friend is coming to stay with me in SoCal in late October to go this concert called 'GirlFrenzy'...i was just informed that I am getting a free ticket to the aforementioned frenzy. The lineup is Sheryl Crow(meh), Fiona Apple(yay!), and Avril Lavigne(WTF?) I am going to see Avril Lavinge. There I said it and I still don't believe it.
