First, a song from one of the bands that grabbed my attention at Friday's Coachella show, and has not let go. More on them later.

Not sure that's an appropriate description of Cut Copy, but man I'm digging this record in a hardcore kind of way. It's immediately gratifying, and only gets better after multiple spins. Typically, for me anyway, anything overtly "retro"-sounding is a turn off, but there's something special about In Ghost Colours. Cut Copy's album, Bright Like Neon Love, came out in 2004 and is a fine example of the newer wave of, err, new wave. Listen to this track and tell me it isn't infectious. The whole album is pretty listenable and catchy.

I have been a longtime fan of the Fabric series of mixes (both the "regular" versions and the live mixes), and Cut Copy has recently released one of my favorites. I loved Cut Copy's debut electro-pop album, 'Bright Like Neon Love'. For FabricLive 29, they pull out all of the stops and bounce from tech-pop to dance-punk to music-that-labels-haven't-been-invented-for-yet with ease.
