summary An Andrew Birdian pop lament that's over too soon - much like the tragically short life of the lead singer's son that inspired it. from Cloud Cult's latest album.

Have you spent much time thinking of the environmental impact of your listening habits? Sure, the "environmentalist" attitude is growing more hip & maybe slowly mainstream.... with the likes of Radiohead & others becoming conscious of their Carbon footprint in touring. But what about the rest of the process in the industry? Minnesotan group Cloud Cult have taken their action a step or giant leap further, looking more holistically at their entire process an... MORE

We all have song lists, right? I mean, It is difficult to imagine A MOGger without song lists. Indeed, folks have rhapsodized & agonized & asked us to analyze various song lists made for specific purposes. ie; The break-up mix,
Songs to clean house by, Angry music, happy music and many others.
I posted about a special list I have. It exists mostly in my heart and head.
This list consists of songs (or other pieces of music) that reached deep inside me and touched... MORE

Cloud Cult has a new release. It may be out, and it may not be out. You just need to know how to find it. I would suggest going to www.cloudcult.com if you are interested. The band is well worth the listen, and this track is da bomb! Enjoy!... MORE

a video for "chemicals collide" from 'meaning of 8'. the video gives you bits of a live show...it is quite an experience! Cloud Cult's new release, coming out on April 8th, following up to last year's "Meaning of 8", moves past death into the afterlife where Craig Minowa and company spend most of the album. The lyrics, though never exactly morbid int he past, speak of of angels and ghosts and conceptions of what happens to the body after death. Minowa's work is profoundly ... MORE

although i have a month and three days until the official release of cloud cult's new 'feel good ghosts (teapartying through tornadoes)' - that would make the release April 8th, for all you calendar-challenged people out there - i have been listening to a track posted on their website for download - 'everybody here is a cloud'. it sounds like craig minowa is once again, using his late son Cayden's unexpected death at two years old, exploring the issues surrounding... CLOUD CULT WAS FUCKING FANTASTIC (even though they didn't play Alien Christ. Tear.) It was really nice to see a band that I didn't have expectations and previous knowledge of. It was cool.
Cloud Cult's album "The Meaning of 8" is by far the album you need to go buy right now. They're utterly mindblowing. They are my top pick of 07. It will remain that way unless, oh, 07 doesn't end? I can't foresee anything bumping it out. Andy recommended them to me, and really it was ... MORE

Cloud Cult - Pretty Voice
_Cloud Cult's_ origins go back to the early '90s when Craig Minowa, a student studying environmental science, started essentially, a solo project where he made music from sounds collected from non-musical related objects. Cloud Cult was really just a side project for Minowa at the time who would go on to become an environmental activist and eventually own and run a self sustaining organic farm. In 2000 Minowa's wife, a felow activis... MORE

Sorry for the very impersonal post, but 'tis another overly busy day at my place of employment, Wu-Tang Financial. This song is getting a lot of love on my iPod lately, so I figured I'd put it up for all to enjoy... that is all, carry on.

For all of you out there who have had the distinct pleasure of listening to Cloud Cult, I salute you. I must get the word out about this band. If you know anything about them, they refuse to sign to a major record label to stay eco friendly, sending their CD's through the mail without all the excess packaging and running things how they want. So please, if you get the chance, give them a listen. They changed my life, and hopefully they can change yours. It makes me ... MORE

Well, I'll skip the long introduction and get right to the music. Being from the Seattle area I thought I would start off with something related. While Cloud Cult is definitely not a Seattle band this cover of Mr. Tambourine Man is an in studio performance at 90.3 KEXP , which IMHO , is one of the best radio stations around. Check them out at kexp.org, they stream uncompressed.... MORE

So saw this band on mtv the other day and they kinda blew me away. Just thought I would share it with people because they are quite awesome and have a great sense of political activism and environmental awareness which is lacking in music these days. Plus their music just rocks my socks. They also have artists paint pictures live on stage while they play which is amazing. So yeah here is a link to their myspace and a video of them. Also just added a pic at the end from the ma... MORE

If I was a pitcher in the majors, this song would absolutely be my theme as I walk from the bullpen to the mound. That would replace "Note to Self: Don't Die" by Ryan Adams.

I don't know what it is about this song, but it stops me dead in my tracks whenever my iPod shuffles over to it. Then I go back and listen to it again, along with the rest of the record. Something magical is happening here. Is Cloud Cult on tour? Is the band coming to Baltimore?... MORE
