I don't watch a lot of television, and tonight I was reminded of exactly why that is. I was flipping aimlessly through the channels and found myself actually watching that show Nashville Star for a second. I have no idea why...I can't stand pop country or reality TV...this was a whole lot of both. Anyway, I noticed Jewel was one of the judges and it reminded me in a round about way of exactly why it is that I love singer/songwriter Eef Barzelay so much.

I have raved about my love for Daniel Johnston songs many times before, so I will be brief. DJ has the most amazing way of stating things so simply, and so matter of fact. In a sea of wannabe poets and word smiths, Daniel beats them all at their own game. You can't learn about heart, or loss, or fear in english classes or art school...you have to live it. Just a quick salute to one of my favorite bands on the planet that I don't hear many people talking about, Clem Snide. First of all, I never had a chance. I fell in love with these guys from the first time the first few notes of their Ritchie Valen's cover 'Donna' danced into my ear. I haven't been sleeping well lately. Not much at all actually. There is no deep rooted psychological reason for this latest bout of insomnia, pure physics i am afraid. When I moved out west, I didn't bring any furniture...just loaded up whatever I could get into my little SUV and headed out, planning on buying or somehow acquiring stuff as I needed to. Here is my favorite band named after a William S Burroughs character. Eef Barzelay has always been one of my favorite songwriters...so good, that sometimes he doesn't even need music behind him to make a tune interesting.

For the record, i have never claimed to be smart. But while broadcasting my love for Clem Snide earlier it probably wasn't the best idea to post a cover tune that they recorded. And since my not so hidden agenda is to win the band more fans, I now feel obligated to share an Eef Barzelay original, so this is from their release way back in Y2K ...'Your Favorite Music'

I love Clem Snide...so i am sharing...yet another really bad youtube video...i love these!! Does anyone know how to do these? I am tech illiterate....can i do this with Windows media center, or is there specific software I have to buy to make slideshows like this? I have some really funny ideas for some great songs that dont have videos, like putting disaster footage up to some clay aiken music...oh the irony!!
