The digital remastering of all 13 albums by German musical pioneers CAN has been completed and the albums are being packaged and released as I write this. The first of the flood of new CAN treasures is Anthology, a compilation of 29 Can tunes that have been artfully remastered with new liner notes by Kosmiche Club. Apparently there's been a few people who have mogged about CAN in the past, but for whatever reason I never noticed them until Groon's krautrock post. I was finally able to find a cd of theirs at Half Priced Books of all places. It's pretty amazing. Hopefully I'll be able to obtain some more (if I'm not too busy buying vinyl. while in oz, i purchased my very first vinyl record ever. and it was none other than can's, unbelieveably perfect, "tago mago". i couldnt be more excited about it. im actually more excited about the record than having seen rhcp in concert (review will be coming in the next few days). its a double record, with "halleluwah" taking up one whole side of the first record (arguably one of the best songs ever). and it sounds so much better than its digital brother. if you take ti... My very first Can album was the re-mix album Sacrilege. Personally I love this album, and since then I've gone on to get every album I've been able to (not all, but getting there!) I know it's sort of a hit or miss with Can fans out there, so I'm curious what the rest of you think about it.

I'm not sure what's more intriguing--the fact that a video was made for this song, or that it actually played on MTV.

This one might be a bit obvious to some of you out there, but CAN is so great that I had to post this. First off, what a great band. Everything they released up to and including Future Days was wonderful and to some degree groundbreaking. After that, they slowed down a bit but hey, who wouldn't after such a creative rush? can. everything about this band is weird. one of the oddest bands ive ever heard. for a while there, "tago mago" was, without a doubt, my favorite album of all time. come to think about it, still is. and my favorite song is definitely "halleluwah". which brings me to the point of this post: what are the weirdest/kookiest lyrics you have ever heard? mine?
