Animal Collective. What are they? They've been called everything from experimental, to noise-rock, to psych-folk, to indie-rock. And with names like Panda Bear, Geologist, Avey Tare, and Deakin, one has to wonder if they're genius or crazy. I've tried to like them...I really have. And believe me, I've tried to hum their melodies to myself in the car. As much as I like the song "Peacebone," I just don't think it was meant to be. Alhough I can't find any enjoyment in liste... Yup, it's official: I've yet to decide if I am going to go. I'm checking out the bands that will be there and I'm really digging Animal Collective. Holy shit, they are making some fascinating tuneage! The Baltimore-based Animal Collective released their new album Strawberry Jam today. They may not beat Kanye or 50 cent album sales, but everyone is raving about what a sweet album it is. Tonight they play in Minneapolis, then hop over to Seattle for the west coast leg of their tour. But, if you are in the UK, you will be next to get a sweet visit from the quartet. Once they finish their US travels with a NYC show on the 1st of October, they will take a bit of time off... MORE

I bought only one CD today and to my surprise, it wasn't Kanye or 50... It was Animal Collective. Their new album, Strawberry Jam, also came out today. How the hell did that happen? Well, I started getting into Animal Collective last week and heard their new album. I'm really liking it and I decided to add that to the albums I was going to buy today (the others being Kanye and The Go! Team). The store I work at is right next to Borders. This track from Animal Collective is from their newest album Strawberry Jam which was released yesterday (Sept 10, 2007).
Layers on top of layers of noisy, scratchy, glitchy, music that builds and colescest into a bubbling fun choirs. The vocals on this track remind me alot of They Might Be Giants.
