- Amadou and Mariam are a musical duo from Mali.
- The pair, known as "the blind couple from Mali".
- The duo produces music that mixes traditional Mali sound with rock guitars, Syrian violins, Cuban trumpets, Egyptian ney, Colombian trombones, Indian tablas and Dogon percussion - All these elements put together have been referred to as "Afro-blues".
- The new single 'Sabali' is produced by Damon Albarn (Blur/Gorillaz/The Good, The Bad & The Queen)
- I'd rather hype over it than Kanye W

I got this from the ongoing "summer mix" sessions over at Salon. I loved what they had last summer and I'm back for more. I love the mix--crazy extreme panning, great hook. I wish my french was better. I just love the way he says Dakar. I do. And hell, let's throw in a harmonica, an organ, a children's choir, twenty guitars, and it all sounds crisp. Find it. It's free.
Did you miss the Stern Grove season opener this weekend? Me too. Boo.
In an attempt to experience it at least tangentially, I started surfing the festival website, and discovered all sorts of free mp3 downloads! Go check it out, and get ready for Amadou & Mariam next week!
