This new album was inspired by the pain Sean felt when he found out his best friend was having an affair with his girlfriend, then he died a few months later in a motorcycle accident before Sean could forgive him.
The kid is a genius.

This poor kid is trapped in a shadow of expectations an doubts. If he channels his dad too much....he's accused of imitation . How much is real an' how much is affectation? Will he find his voice? His vision? Will it be in music? Does it have to be? So many questions....... .......And judging by Sean"s musical legecy thus far.....it just presents more questions than answers. His bass work with Cibo Matto was competent, but the music itself was too much a product of the studio. And really, he shouldn't be faulted, it wasn't his vision. His work with YOKO was interesting in places, but again, rendered sterile by production values. Again though, not HIS vision. Imagine if...........

I agree with you. Sean Lennon's music is great. I'm loving the new cd and am looking forward to seeing him in concert. I didn't realize that he played bass for Cibo Mato until recently. He's a very good bassist too! I'm terrible with song names (and names of anything, to be honest), but the bass playing is especially great on their song that goes "We belong as two, two together", etc....
