WHERE MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN MONEY

Artist:
Album: Virus 100 - Tribute To The Dead Kennedys
(11)

Edvard Munch

After a week from hell that included the death of both a computer and an external hard drive (thus obliteration of massive amounts of music and photos), impossible work deadlines, and an emergency root canal (owww), I know I do. Fortunately my favorite cover at the mo' takes all that and turns it into something that makes - at the very least - my ears feel good ... Here is Les Thugs take on Dead Kennedys' "Moon Over Marin" (even if DK weren't your cuppa tea, I think this one's a keeper).

Angsty contributions welcomed!

Wow... I of course know The Scream... but I haven't seen any of his other stuff... sorry that this week hasn't been kind to you... I am running a little low on the angst meeter right now, maybe I'll have to dial it up on my mood organ... then again I think the beer is holding it back.....

here is

Alice Cooper - Novocaine

lame video... but a good tune none the less...

damn, E! I was wondering where you were at! Did you get a new computer? what happened to the old comp? Shit, I'm so afraid of losing my tunes I've got to get a backup system this week. Let me know if you need anything, I'd give you access to my collection but I don't know how to do that.

Ouch! That is rough. I was starting to wonder where you were at myself. Welcome back little Kit-E. Meow meow for more music and it shall be yours.

Cody yes it has to be better around the next bend ... fingers crossed.

Eric Thanks for the Novocaine, paired with a Vicodin it's amazing how one's outlook can be improved. ;)

David yeah, I've required a rather large rock under which to hide this week. Fortunately my G5 is still in good shape; it's a mac mini that I use in another room that bit the dust and there are years of photos that just went poof. And of the two 500GB external drives I use, one of them died before I had the chance to do a mirrored backup between the two, so tons of music files are gone, and a crapload of designs that I needed for a deadline tomorrow .... ugh, I just can't even believe ... (please, back up your stuff now! and make sure you have a copy of the copy.) The saving grace is that a large stash of music on my G5 is still safe and I may be able to hunt down some of what went up in smoke on the external. Regardless, it's a bad day when you hear the power to the drive grinding to a halt.

Thanks fellas (D, Mike), for the offer of help, I'll let you know. Having friends with as stellar taste as yours certainly softens the blow. :)

Christ, when it hits the fan it really hits hard. I feel for you, especially the root canal. I don't know any pain worse than that...

Now, I hope this injection of angst will help you get your smiling face back

Welcome back ;)

Bad weeks, well you and I shared one this go around. Last week of school is never a fun journey, and take into consideration how difficult my class was this year lets just say I am glad its over. Glad to see you made it through with your head held high and your great choice in music untouched!

If you need a DVD-R of any music you lost, just holler, K? I could make a comment about Mac's, but I don't like to kick a person when they're down, plus PC's have their own issue, so I'll desist.

Wow, sorry to hear of all the trouble. I back up everything, but now I'm starting to think a backup of the backup is not such a bad idea. Was under the drill myself this week, that can sure take the fun out of a day or two. Did Michael say something about it hitting the fan? Well, I'm having a bit of a Todd revival round here, and when the shit hits the fan for Mr. Rundgren, he heads back to "Sunset Blvd". Hope it's behind ya!

Sorry about the setbacks, but you shall triumph, E! As regards the track and the angst, it's grrrrrrrrrrreat! (Although I get a feeling Jello would think it's too, um, pretty.)

What a pile-up of bad fortune, E! So sorry to hear. I don't think I even want to know what a root canal feels like. I had an external HD crash a few months ago, lost a lot of music as well. I'd be happy to help out with that if needed. I'll actually be in Boulder Aug. 7-10 for a conference and then Denver Aug. 10-12 visiting my friend Dan before flying back to Europe. I could easily bring my portable HD. MOG meet + music swap?

Sorry to hear about all that rotten luck, E. I will take your advice and back everything up this week. Including my teeth!

Also there's this from the Les Thugs website:

This year Sub Pop will be 20.

To celebrate they will organize a big birthday gig in Seattle on july 12 and 13 and they asked les Thugs to come. The band agreed and as they won't re-form, they decided to do a few gigs in France before flying to Seattle.

In the continuing saga, the CD drive on my working machine blew up this morning, thereby proving that there is no god! I'm laughing, really, I am ...

Anna-bean, thanks for those potent Thessaloniki vibes. :)

That was funny Bart! Danke ... I hope I'm still singing to The Ramones when I'm 85.

Kev I know you've been through the ringer but from what I've read you've done an A1 job. We just gotta keep on keepin' on ... me, with a summertime mojito in hand and you with a ... erm, bootie in hand!? Great to see you here again. Congrats on making it through!

Appreciated Brother D, especially for not using your docs on me. You may yet hear me holler for assistance! xx

Thanks Scot ... A backup of the backup would have saved my bacon ... I had the system but apparently it only works when you use it! :$

Michael ah, good I'm glad you heard the track over the sound of my whinging! That's what I was hoping for. Actually the DK tribute album is an Alternative Tentacles release that Jello himself put together; it's a very eclectic mix of covers - some that I like a lot and some not so much. Faith No More's lounge jazz version of Let's Lynch the Landlord is fun: ~KH2aEbdfVm6.mp3~

Pekka The root canal would have been a more pleasant experience had the Doc been able to numb the nerve as they were working on it! Not fun ... and all for a nut that put a wee crack my molar. As for August -- I would be like a kid in a candy store with your HD, not to mention all over a mog meet! But the timing is terrible -- I'll be in NY from 8/8 through 8/12. Dag! Can I take a raincheck on both!?

Colin Yes! Back up those teeth, you never know when you might need them!

I actually meant to include that info with the post Jenny, so thanks for making note of it. I would absolutely love to see them play in Seattle (or even better, in France) but no such luck! There's a little Sub Pop 20th anniv. party going on here as well tho' and our friends The Fluid (first Denver band signed to SubPop) are playing a reunion on the 20th. It's something, anyway ... :)

Erin! a root canal sans numbing?!? (that most certainly required bold letters.) and the sudden death of a hard drive is always painful enough to require a eulogy. golly gosh, shoe twin, i offer an entire catalogue of Dead Kennedys if we ever cross paths physically. hang in there!

Sistah, neither one is an experience I hope to repeat in this lifetime! And who knew you were a fellow DK twin, was your mother mortified as well? Oh, the hell we would have raised if we knew each other back in the day ... ;)

poebegone says:

that they detested loud speakers and any volume level higher than 2 was perhaps telling that my parents were substantially mortified. we would have raised hell, and had the hair gel to hold it up! (;
