MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:
Album: Ladder 49
Track:

So, I heard a clip of this on a talk show on the radio on the way back to work from lunch today and I remembered how much the bass line freakin' rocks. The drumsticks on the hi-hat stand aren't too shabby either. Hell, this is just a classic all around.

I'm the last splash.

I do believe this is one of Spike Jonze's first forays into music video as well.

Oddly, I heard this song on Sirius yesterday (Channel 24, Joel, you need to get one of these things), and was marvelling over what a great line the "I'll be your whatever you want" was.

Good pick, young fella

Love this song. Edgy and poppy at the same time. Plus Kim was an my indy-punk-faded new-wave-dream-girl at the time

I've always dug this song ... first time I heard it I was driving back home to Wisconsin from Indiana via the Skyway through downtown Chi-town in the mid 90's.

My theory for driving through Chicago is one must be very alert and relatively assertive yet remain adaptable, creative, and cool; and it actually helps to blast the tunes as you try to barrel your way through and make time ... but that is the ONLY place I drive like this, otherwise I'm a lamb.

Anyway hearing Cannonball for the first time then, while weaving into and around the local traffic to hit the Express Lanes ... it was the perfect soundtrack to navigate the canyons of Chicago's downtown urban landscape and matched the frenetic pace.

Made it through, from Skyway to western outskirts in about 40 minutes, not bad for around 2:30 in the afternoon.
