I was listening to Reigning Sound and browsing mog to find that noone has posted about them yet. Every since hearing "Too Much Guitar" I've been hooked, and being a bit obsessive I had to go out and get everything they've put out. All the records are a little different, and "Too Much Guitar" is not like any of their other records, an overdriven rock assault as the title suggests. I passed up the chance to see them earlier this year, with the Detroit Cobras no less. I can't remember why, and if anything were to happen and I had no opportunity to see them again it might possibly be one of the greatest mistakes of my life. Greg Cartwright is one of the best songwriters working today, and his band is one of the best, not to mention underrated. If the music business was about seeing that good music is exposed to the widest possible audience Reigning Sound would be selling millions of records. That's a great record. I think "You've Got Me Hummin'" is my favorite, but it's pretty good all the way through.
What's he doing now? It's been two three years since that one.

i agree! They put out 2 live records and now the next thing is a record backing up Mary from The Shangra-La's ("Leader of the Pack" "Great Big Kiss")

Here, here! Reigning Sound is an incredible band. (But as far as I'm concerned, pretty much everything Greg has ever done has been sensational.) I'm sorry you missed getting to see them live. They don't play around too often, but I'm sure you'll get the chance to see them again. I really appreciate that all of their records sound distinct, and yet somehow they all still very much sound like they are from the same band. That's no small feat. Most bands either veer all over the place or turn out the same stuff over and over again until you don't buy their records anymore. Long live, Greg Cartwright!
