Folks, you owe it to yourselves to become familiar with Dave Brubeck. This man is a walking encyclopedia of Piano Jazz of the twentieth century. He has played with all the greats, and has mentored many as well. His influences are as far reaching and curious as his influence.

Great Stuff, dig that type of walking lines on bass. I'm doing a study on walking lines for bass right now.

Dave Brubeck did replace Oscar Peterson at the Carneggie Hall for a reason.

It's always a treat to hear Paul Desmond play his sweet, swinging edgy melodies, each phrase relating to the one before and the one after. Perfect music. Brubeck's solo starts out fine and linearly, and, near the beginning, briefly quotes "Puttin' on the Ritz," but eventually and inevitably ends up playing big chords (ho-hum). After his solo, I love how he and Desmond trade fours like the soul-mates they are. During his Desmond years, Brubeck always had the best bassists and drummers.
"Gone with What Draft" was the fun pun name of a tune Charlie Christian recorded with the Benny Goodman Sextet in the early forties.
