It cannot be denied that Patrick Wolf belongs in the Great MOG 501.

I love Patrick Wolf, as many of you know already. I love him because he is exceptionally talented and creative, both musically and lyrically. He has an amazing voice. I also love him because he's so strange (in a good way). He has been making music since he was 12 and has produced 2 excellent albums Lycanthropy and Wind in the Wires - and he's only 22. This clip is a song from his forthcoming album (Feb 2007) The Magic Position.

This song is called Bluebells and it is quite apt for this time of year because it is about the nights drawing in and time seeming to slow down (as he says in the interview, after the song, which is not shown here).

And what an imagination this boy has. These glimpses into his world are awesome and I'm quite envious that my brain doesn't think in the same way as his.

What do you think?

Terry, do you think he has rewritten anyone's work?

Col told me I was strange when we first met and I took that to be a postive thing.

There's supposed to be an asterisk after 'way' and before 'Col told...'

Don't ask me how it ended up bold in bits.

1. Is he really 'Ginger', because I may have a problem with that. 2. Did his mother never show him how to knot a tie. 3. Is that you on backing vocals 4. Am I still one of your trusted Mogs? . . . . . . . . . nice tune......

You should hear the one about his 'romantic' encounter with a snake. Very strange - but quite beautiful in a way.

This is quite a long clip because it has an interview at the end.

I know. I thought 'Bloody Hell, that looks like me'. It's his sister.

I'll give this a long look and listen, after I get back from my Scout fundraiser.

I have to admit, Helen, that I'm not familiar with Patrick's stuff, and although intrigued by the clips you posted, I'm reluctant to draw any lazy music journo comparisons with other artists after just one listen. (Ooh, I must be feeling poorly)

Shall investigate the Boy Wonder's canon further in the coming weeks...

There are far to many 'nice' avatars on here....... . . Now, let's try and hit the right button this time....

What? I dig Neill's avatar!

I normally like Neill's avatars. This one (as a small pic) I couldn't work out what it was. I thought it was the pope with his hat on until I looked at the bigger picture. I like the idea of the pope as an avatar.

I think the whole concept of putting a bag with a fish and filled with water on your head up to your nose israd! I might try it myself later on...

I don't think there is really a fish in there.

Anna says:

Nah, I've already tried the concept with a condom..

I really liked that song "To The Lighthouse" a lot. Whatever album it's on, I'm getting it.

Oh my goodness, I'm really enjoying Lycanthropy. "Bloodbeat" and "To The Lighthouse" are my current faves. Thank you so much for the tip.
