Be still my joyous, beating heart! The Strokes are returning in 2009! For three weeks the information has quietly idled on the rockers Web site. Realizing the looming question in some people's minds, the band posted this:
QUESTION: When are the Strokes coming back? ANSWER: The guys are set to get together and get back at it early 2009.

I don't remember writing about The Strokes on this site before, actually I don't remember writing or talking about them at all in the past year, after they decided to fuck things up with FIOE -which in my opinion SUCKED-, and it's sad 'cuz they were my favorite band for so long, well not so long, but they were my favorites for the longest amount of time, and when they decided to get married, make babies, take a hiatus, and leave me with a broken heart, Bright Eyes came wit... The days are long, the temps are high and the haze is settling across the shore in familiar ways reminding me of simpler days..
In an interview in February 2007, Nikolai talked about his favorite books and authors with www.foundinthemargins.com. An excerpt: "Reading 'Public Opinion' was one of those catalytic moments in my adolescent life when I was forced to question everything I had been taught and the way it was taught to me. I had had a few vague notions of how I was affected by my environment, but this book really crystallized them into my day-to-day." Read entire interview here: http://w... MORE
A: The guys will be back in time for early 2009.
This is what was posted on The Strokes' website. So hopefully we will get a return.
I'm sure you all already know but Albert's new project is set to come out in July so I think that should hold us fans over until the return.

I just found this rare (by my standards) pre-Is This It demo by everyone's favorite musical geniuses, The Strokes.
Says Julian Casablancas about this song, cryptically titled, Sagganuts, "I just started listening to Velvet Underground records and copied all their tunes...you know, used that as a prototype." He actually said that on the "In Transit" video, but nevermind that, the point is he said it.
The most important question here is WHY WAS THIS NEVER REVEALED TO THE PUB... MORE

Now, this doesn't make any sense. For all those anticipating the 7.4.7 release of Michael Bay's Transformers, you've definitely seen lead man Shia LaBeouf sporting a Strokes T-shirt in the explosion-friendly previews. So, you'd think a Strokes song would at least make the Transformers soundtrack, right? Not quite. The Strokes got gypped! Think more along the lines of a bomb-trigger happy set list our boys in Iraq would be spinning on their iPods. A new track from the Sma... MORE
soo they are the greatest band. julian casablancas makes my heart melt.when he sings he has such an ...idk. there are know words. im going to marry him. he looks like a drugged out 19 year old. its hard to believe he is almost 30! its crazy. well besides the fact that im in complete love with julian, i think the srokes are awesome. i own all there cds and everything. their lyrics can relate to things going on in my life. such as i love you more than being 17 in the evening... Mog and my second life...
I think given what I just had to do, the next spate of songs is pretty appropriate...
Some rocking cathartic music to purge the hell out of my aggravation!
Well I have no idea what happened with that last post about Ize of the World, but I guess I should post that song again because I don't think it showed up.
Maybe that worked? If not, here's the link...

Okay, so I feel like this song is extremely overlooked by the general population. I know many who are familiar with The Strokes only because of the song "You Only Live Once," probably because of its memorable lyrics and catchy sound, but I really think the following lyrics have got to be some of the best. A bit of social and political commentary for ya. How SCARY! ;) At least you moggers can appreciate it.
