10: VHS or Beta - Bring On The Comets
I heard the fantastic single Can't Believe A Single Word on a music industry compilation earlier this year and it was one of the few tracks that made me go "hang on a minute" and dig up the package to see what I was listening to. Afterwards, I had to check out the record, which was full of admittedly similar sounding high octane dance-rock thrillers.

I went to Rock the Bells at Randall's Island in New York a few weeks ago. Overall I was kind of disappointed with the whole event. Despite those feelings I did see the light for about 25 minutes early in the afternoon. Pharoahe Monch performed with his full band/back up singers and really ripped it. I have now gone back and listened to Internal Affairs a number a times and have just gotten a hold of his new CD Desire. I wonder why I slept on him for sooooo long.

Oh my god..
Yesterday I went to see the Rock the Bellz concert out on Randalls Island, NYC.
The line up was so amazingly incredible!
Bootcamp Click,Rakim (wow!!!), Pharoahe Monch, Cypress Hill, Public Enemy(holy sh!t)..,Wu Tang Clan and Rage Against the Machine. The weather sucked (it rained all day and there was mud and puke everyehere...seriously..
But..I would so do it all over again.
I haven't been to such a good show in such a long time. Everyone rocked it hard!

Yesterday I had delivered to me my autographed copy of Pharoahe Monch's new album Desire, and upon first listen, it has catapulted itself into my Top 5 for 2007 without a problem.
I'll try to put up a full review on this later, but for now I wanted to share Pharoahe's 2007/updated version of Public Enemy's classic "Welcome to the Terrordome."

The tracklist for Pharoahe Monch's Desire hit the net this weekend. The album is set for a June 26th release. The new video for "Body Baby" was also released last week.

Pharoahe Monch has been around for quite some time, but his upcoming album Desire will probably launch him into the main stream [finally]. While I wanted to post the video for "Gun Draws," I believe that although this video ultimately has a positive meaning, it may be a little too violent considering recent events. Pharoahe Monch recently put out his remix version of "Rehab", the break though song off Amy Winehouse's album Black to Black. His intentions aren't clear, but what is clear is that he has lightened up the Winehouse drama and given us all a chance to take a step back and laugh. He integrates Brittney Spears, Anna Nicole-Smith and the Olsen twins and many more interesting figures in pop culture.

The release of Pharoahe Monch's new album, Desire, has be pushed back to June 25, according to Pitchfork. The album had been set for a May 1 release. Monch hits the road on April 16.

Pharoahe relaunched his site recently, and with that came a new release date of May 1st for his next album "Desire". It was originally slated to hit the streets last winter but was delayed for unknown reasons. Pharoahe currently has internet-only music videos available that were deemed too conteversial for tv airwaves. Check out his site for more info

Pharoahe Monch has been around for a bit, but his lyrical ability is just amazing. He is definately one of those underrated rappers who deserves a lot more respect.... MORE
