Juneteenth is an annual observance of the end of slavery in the USA. Official notice of the end of slavery was given although slavery was ended in 1863 through the Emancipation Proclamation. Unfortunately, this is again history that is not well known but it is a recorded fact.
Fortunately, NPR has done a wonderful history lesson on the significance of today in American history.
