Modest Mouse

May 31, I had the pleasure of attending the R.E.M and Modest Mouse concert @ The Greek Theater in Berkeley. (Super cool venue by the way.) Opening was The National of which I hadn't really heard a whole lot from them. They kinda had a Coldplay feel to them. Modest Mouse is heading out on a late spring/summer tour with REM and the National. (On the indie front this tour almost compares with the mini traveling festival that is Kanye West's tour.) I had my iPod on a shuffle of my Modest Mouse collection the last few days. I became a Modest Mouse fan with the release of Good New For People Who Love Bad News, explored Moon and Antartica shortly after, and bought The Lonesome Crowded West shortly before We Were Dead.. came out in early 2007. I've never listened to Modest Mouse. No reason why, just never did. Then I heard the album "good news for people who love bad news" and now I'm obsessed. I listen to this cd religiously. Modest Mouse just released a animated and psychedelic new video for their song "Fly Trapped In A Jar". The video was directed by The Saline Project and it looks like the band is performing in a bubblegum world somewhere in Second Life. Wondering what to do for the 'Roo? Here's a little advice from a two-year veteran. DO try to arrive as early as you can. Recently I moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Bakersfield, California (a small city in southern California). I played as DJ for at least half of the trip and my frieind drove the 4 hour drive. I brought along some Modest Mouse albums and he brought some emo/pop-punk stuff that really didn't do justice to the trip haha. Anyways, I popped in Interstate 8 by Modest Mouse and we listened to the whole album while driving down the lonely, two-lane highway in the middle of the night.... MORE

Okay so somehow, I've never got round to listening to Modest Mouse, despite lots of people telling me I'd love them and despite all my good intentions to 'do it tomorrow'.
Now I'm determined to sit down and give them a go, and see if I like them as much as everyone else.
