Perhaps last year you remember Dale (www.mog.com/dale) gathering all the half year lists. Not only was this fun, it was also informative, because this way you could discover all kinds of albums you perhaps hadn't listened to yet but apparently other moggers are very high on! It is ridiculously hot outside. Like "Oh God! My skin is on fire!" hot. So I'm going to throw a song up here that makes me happy and avoid thinking about the fact that the sun seesm to be roughly one mile above me, which makes me sad. Have some Los Campesinos!, then. You also need to go to a decent record store and get their "International Tweexcore Underground" thing, if only to hear them do a version of a really angry Black Flag song and a cover of an excell... If you have listened to Los Campesinos, you'll know it is incredibly impossible to not at least tap your foot or bob your head to their music. This fact manifested itself entirely at the band's show at Bimbo's last night. The entire audience, whether there just for a night out or to see a band they absolutely adored, was a perpetual body of people bouncing to the beat. Here’s a cool method of enticing Pitchfork and its hipster audience. Firstly, associate yourselves with Broken Social Scene for Indie authenticity. Create a frenetic collage of noise by bombarding the listener with as many musical instruments the college music department will let you borrow and worry little over any proficiency in being able to play them adequately. Rather, they are a group that contains 6 English men/women and a Russian who sing energetic UK pop, and sing it well, at that.
Last Saturday I got to enjoy their music first hand. My husband’s extremely cool 15 year old nephew convinced his mother to bring him from Vancouver BC to Seattle for their show. We got there early so that Nicholas could get up front (good BOY!) and so got to experience the opening band, Parenthetical Girls, also.

I've been trying to track down Los Campesinos! stuff for ages, because I've heard it's good, but been stifled by it's lack of being in America. Now, Stinkweed's to the rescue!
Found "Hold on Now, Youngster...." there today and there was much rejoicing. As evidenced by the absurd title to this, they have the bestest lyrics you have ever heard.

Everyone's favorite indie pop group from Cardiff, Wales just released a new video for their song "My Year In Lists" from their debut album Hold On Now, Youngster...(Wichita).
The album was released today in North America, but has been available in the UK and Ireland since late February.... MORE

Twelve seconds into the album and I’ve already been pinned to the wall. Within two minutes I am already exhausted, it seems more like taking a jog than listening to music. Thankfully at two minutes forty the eclectic burst of opening energy finally affords the listener some breathing space. Three minutes per song and just as many chords per-track, this is a vigorous workout of indie-punk.

I admit, I'm kind of nervous. Kind of nervous because normally I can say anything, and you just have to accept it as the truth. I could say the band all took their shirt off and did a bellydance, and there is no one to say they did not. But this time you can actually judge my review and see the gig. Yikes.
