In case anyone out there thinks Canadians are mosly brain dead when it comes to music, (a thought coming from the sense of insecurity generated from the perceived perception that we all live in igloos in sub zero weather) here's a copy of a transcript from the years old radio show "The Ongoing History of New Music."

My friend sent me this video cuz they know I’m such a huge fan of Collective Soul. Coincidently I used to mention about American Idol and said that show is kinda soapy and dull – hate at first watch was my conclusion. I was surprised cuz he was working out great his version is even better than original version. Plus, this show is really drama...he managed to cry in the end (is it cuz of profound lyric or whatever reason?? looked like it's worthy).

Somebody may have already recalled this, so if that is the case, I apologize --- I can only scan most of my MOG posts. Anyway, I am going through my 3,0000 stored posts, trying to catch up, and I found this old one from Crash about the fragility of life. I was moved by it once again. Just wanted to share. First I have to say I find it highly ironic that I spent most of Thursday and Friday bouncing around to "Better Now" by Collective Soul and then spent Saturday and Sunday sick in bed. (Dontcha think?)
Yes, I said Collective Soul and yes this is something I would probably never admit to if I was functioning at full capacity. When this song came out I had just had surgery. It wasn't anything major, but it was still terrifying. I'm not sure if all my friends and family ... MORE

Collective Soul has always been a band that has never gotten its due. This EP finds them stripped down to what has made so popular: guitars and a lead singer with good pipes. The songs feel much more personal without all the splashy effects from the studio... it reminds you why shouldn't take these guys for granted. You also get a great track that was left off the cd Youth... even though it was the title track....hmmmm.... MORE

My last comment lead me into thinking about this band. I enjoy just sitting back and listening to some Collective Soul from time to time. This song is from one of my favorite movies too, great all around song, good for one of those mellow moods. Here is another video I found while looking for this one, another great song by these guys. They don't even need an audience they just rock out wherever, here is "The World I Know".... MORE
