Every since the shocking verdict was released on friday afternoon, many fans have wondered how R. Kelly was acquitted despite there being a videotape of the incident.
It turns out the jury did indeed believe R. Kelly participated in sex acts on video, but they were unsure about the identity of the female who accompanied him.
"I thought it was R. Kelly on the tape," juror #9 said after the verdict was rendered. "I just wasn't 100 percent on the girl."
One of the major problems the prosecution faced, was the fact that the girl who allegedly appeared on the tape denied it was her. In addition to her denial, family members who testified on her behalf were also divided on her identity.
"The key problem was the identity of the female," juror #23 said. "Her absence was a major lack."
"The family was too divided," said juror #9, who in the preliminary votes had voted for a guilty verdict. "So you had to discount the family testimony either way."
By the look on R. Kelly's face (below), you can tell this definitely wasn't a slam dunk for the defense.
