  • !!!

Now I will stress about this for a week or two & find that there are 22 others that could have been the TOP 22... Maybe Casey Kasem is the way to go - a TOP 40 ;)

"Keep your feet on the ground, & keep reachin for the stars" my friends :)

(the video - Bright Eyes - he got to me late this year & he has enveloped my heart with such poetry I feel flushed as I listen...) As he made the cut for top 10, I felt he should fetch the video love ;)

Lovely list! Well, I was bound to say that since our numbers one and two are exactly alike. :P And more love for The Cinematics, yay! I do see I still have a couple of albums to check out though. ;)

I M*UST INSIST *Stephan that you check out the Delorentos... truly wondermous ;) & being that we are one in the same for the Editors/The National & The Cinematics, I am quite confident you will also turn the knob to 11 for this Irish band that are movin on up :)

Once again, thank you for making this list. I know there was a lot of pain involved (there always is), but I couldn't have dreamed of doing an aggregation of MOG's tastes without your input. Enjoy your day with Chase!

You have great taste!

(I'm a sucker for that Modest Mouse release this year, that would be _at least_ a consideration for top 40... I would presume...)

Great list lizzie! I'm glad Josh Ritter made it. He's a He-Man of songwriting. A true master of the written verse, as it were. And I also agree with you on the Ryan Adams. I felt like the ep and the album were so similar they shouldn't be separated. There are several on here that I never even got to, but I guess there's always next year! Maybe they will be some of The Program's B-Sides.

Super list, Liz - great to see the Delorentos get a mention.

[in my best school marm tone]

I'll take this as the reason you've been absent, but I still expect a signed note from your parents, and a "C" only because of tardiness (not because of your "best of" list). Tsk, tsk Miss. greeneyes, you must show up more if you are to pass my class...

You are too funny Liz. It is painful to nail down a best of list. There's so many good ones, that's for sure. It looks like we only have a few in common: Smashing Pumpkins, TGTB&TQ & Arcade Fire, which is pretty amazing.

Ahh..lizzie..good stuff, although there are a few there I am unfamiliar with. I guess this means I have some research to do. Now just think..you can begin a whole new list for 2008! :)

Too much praise for Lizzie, I say it's time for a right and proper slagging. I think you all are blowing sunshine. What a pile of lunchmeat you all are, everything is so peachy-fookin'-creamy! You're all a bunch of big-girls-blouses you are! Can't anyone of you speak your mind? Say what you really mean to say!

...by the way, brilliant list Lizzy! Top notch!

C'mon, you punters let her have it! How stoopid are you? ...bunch of pantywaists.

Seems like there's a MOG consensus on a bunch of these. There are only three or four out of 22 that disinterest or irk me (heh) while I'm more than ready to rave about the rest. Good taste is timeless, Lizzie!

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE... How _VULGAR_ I am in this _Era_ ;)

Dale: :) You make me smile consistently bro - YOU JUST DO. You made Chase smile as well - kid was dancin to your mix ;) Only other song to make him bob his head - the Mahna Mahna song ;P I believe Unkle rocked it for him... Chemical Brothers was a warm up for him, he sure did love watchin me though ;)

SunnyH: Helen... it never really grabbed me on first few listens - so I will make sure I dust it off & pipe it into the old eardrums to see what's what !!!

Matt: You are so right - Josh's turn of phrase is just so... simple & yet, no one else thought to write it his way before - least that's how it often feels to me :) The Red Rainslicker song WRECKS me !!!

Colin: Absolutely they do... was a brilliant album I'd been _Waiting_ for over a year ya know ;) They sucked me in at the EP 2006.

Tyler: Sheesh... I'll talk to my parents, but I don't know that I can get the proper documentation from them to save my bloomin hide... ah well, there's always extra credit right ?!? I can write an essay, or review an album... something right ?!?

August: Though our tastes do seem to parallel, I too noticed a difference in our lists... we will always have Badu though - no one can take that away from us ;)

Shudd: I see myself waking in a cold sweat at the thought... glad to see a few on there that might give you a little more to love about 2007... do let me know what you think when you get to them :)

Summer: Mad Props - dude I so ROCK !!! Thanks sweetie !!!

Anna: Said the same thing about you today my sweet... I adore your lists, but they pale in comparison for my love for you :) We do have grand taste don't we; in music & in men ;)

Chris: Ok, ok !!! NOW... can I please go back to bed now Pops ?!?

Keith: You gots to keep me in the loop next time round & I will be sure to make my list comply with yours a course ;)

David: I am SOOOOO glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read your comment... in fact, it's a few hours later & I am still chortling ;) There was even a few gaffes ;P Thanks friend :) I mean, seriously - "pile of lunchmeat" that's just genius !!!

Mike: Yeah... I can see where there might be a few that seem a little contrived, but when an album speaks - I have to listen ;) You know what I mean I'm sure :)

darmuzz: I know, I know... ::hangs head in shame - can't even garner enough confidence to bang head a little:: Sorry, school me would you... I did add Queens of the Stone Age... what else came out that I may have missed !!! ::runs & hides::

when munich/bullets came along, it was like alright, beat that. then smokers/bones and especially weight of the world (my fave) up the ante and are just beautiful. period. as for the national, alligator was a great listen, especially karen. boxer is good, but i don't think as amped a follow up as an end....it is definitely moodier and more rainy - (fake empire), but i do love alligator a bit more...something to hear: the kooks, esp. naive/i want you. solid list. i am en route to discover delorentos and hope to love it. rms

This is what sucks about being young- I listened to a lot of albums this year, but few from 2007. I'm stuck playing catch-up with everyone else :)

rodney: will definitely look into being a little bit kookier ;) I totally dug alligator, but I am all about boxer... think it's probably because it is so moody/stormy :-} Bones/Weight blow the roof off the sucker... the more I listened to both Editors albums yesterday - the more I knew I made the right decision... going with the 2007 album was the right thing to do :)

Todd: Yeah... they were supposed to be rockin my top 10 for sure... don't know what I was drinkin/smokin on the job, but it sure wasn't Homme & that is just 99 different ways of wrong ;)

Josh: I am right there with you... age ain't nothin but a number & we all have catching up to do whether backwards or forwards - there's so much out there... we gots time & we gots MOG so I think we can prevail (Ultimately) :) I have faith... I think... in me, I know I do in you... this is where the youth card rocks in your favor ;)

Great list, Lizzie! There's a couple I'm completely unfamiliar with... (Delorentos, The Cinematics...) I'll have to change that...

Great Bright Eyes tune....

Have you seen this one? (I've had as a Paste Compilation DVD for a year, but I FINALLY watched it...) I LOVE this video!

That was a grand video John !!! Just loved it :) Thanks for posting it - mightn't have seen it otherwise !!!

Brutal is the word, alright. I thought my head was going to implode doing this crazy fookin' exercise! I feel like the family outcast ... no Editors, Arctic Monkeys or Cinematics anywhere in my top 10. I'm worried ...will you all still love me? Am I going to be disowned? Am I going to be the frowned upon sister who gets disinherited from the family will? Oh god, the ramifications!!

whew, I'm back. Great job, bang-up list, Lizzie. I'll be checking out Delorentos fo sho and I see a bunch of others I've heard great things about. Missed seeing you lately, darlink, sending you love! XX

Please do check the Delorentos !!! They're grand :)

I am gonna head back to check out yours as well... I actually love when we do have differences - these are new ones I must check out or ones I must give another listen to - these are good things ;)

Even if you're the badarse sheep - you're the cool one as are we all - so it's awwwwwl good ;)

Big ups for even doing a list. I can't even pull the band-aid off. Just toooooo much stuff to go through this year. I'm just enjoying everyone else's lists and writing myself a note to start earlier NEXT year. Really...

Posted

Sometimes that's the best we can do... I have a possible list already made for 2008, so in case of emergency, I'll just break the glass ;)
