So here I sit staring at a small stack of cds waiting to be organized and catalogued and transferred into my cd binder.
I've developed an almost obsessive-compulsive tic when it comes to my cds. Everytime I get new albums I must record them in a Word document entitled "Discography Index" which basically has all the cds I own organized under their respective artist headings.
Then I have to record all the tracks off each album and put them in yet another Word document called "CD binder 2" and finally, I put the cds in the binder and label each spot where each cd goes...
... cuz I'm a nerd like that.
So my binder(s) aren't in alphabetical order. I've often considered doing that...or at least putting everything from the same band/artist/whatever together...but then I think: "Do I really want to spend hours and hours and hours re-organizing everytime I pick up another cd?" Yeah, I may not have a life but I like to think that by not going alphabetical I can at least maintain some semblence of a life...call me crazy...
Why am I posting this? Not sure. I think if at least one more person out there has a weird quirk when it comes to their music then maybe, just maybe, I won't feel like such a dork :) Or at least I'll be proud of the dork I am :D

I think order and organization are way overrated.
I'm your psychotic opposite. I don't even know in which room my CDs are (some in the living room, some in the kitchen, etc).
But then again, that's exactly why when people borrow CDs from me and never return them, I have no idea what's missing and who's got it, or when I search for a CD, it takes me about 15 minutes to find it.
I do have a weird quirk with my digital music files though. In the title, the order must be: group space
space song title
Otherwise my head might explode.
Well of COURSE Deadmandeadman would say organization was overrated - we've seen pictures of his collection. I am an organization nut as well - every CD is filed in its rack, alphabetically by artist, with sections for compiliations. But really, the greatest way to organize is digitally. The collection just sits there, but the digital files are always being updated and (supposedly) improved. I might suggest you use a program like Access or Excel to keep your records - much easier to manipulate as databases.
Hey, Anna, I need to borrow some CDs....
