The late Enver Hoxha's iron fisted devotion to the philosophies of Mao Zhedong didn't exactly turn Albania into a tourist destination, so their pop music might be considered a trifle insular. While it's clearly very much in the same style as Greek and Turkish music, the Albanians can still come up with a good tune now and again

Alf - according to the indispensable reference book "Bossa Nova" by Ruy Castro - was one of the original Rio scenemakers of the Fifties, a progenitor of bossa. Castro notes that Alf's first 78, recorded in '54, is often cited as proto-bossa, though it's more like a samba with some jazz flavorings. Still....

For some inexplicable reason, the main song doesn't play, but the one in comments does. It sounds like something from a Turkish wedding with "special" raki - which is meant as a compliment....
