~ The crowd: not too young, not too old, just fine. But I do wish there were more of us there. The Duke Spirit are a solid band of their kind, and they deserve more eyes and ears.
~ The band:
Noise delicious rock with a fantastic female voice to boot is a good recipe, but yet one that can go wrong on stage on many levels. Luckily, this is not the case with The Duke Spirit. Tight, straightforward, hitting you with one song after another. Liela Moss is a talented and radiant front woman, and it's very difficult for one to take his/her eyes off her. With her voice in a fantastic form, she bends her body, messes up her hair, shakes her hips (are you sweating yet?), vibrates rhythm. The gentlemen of the band are rocking, and then some, shooting rock bullets towards us with no mercy (thanks!).
Once again, this was Anna, reporting to you live and amateurishly from the sweaty first row.
~ Conclusion: this band needs more attention! Focus focus focus! ;)
~ Funny incident: before they came on stage, I went out for a fag (hey, you in the back, you're going home with a note, chuckles!). A man approaches me and asks for a light. I indulge him, and he's very nice and smiley. 15 minutes later, I see him up on the stage holding a guitar lol! He sees me in the front (me and my "OOOOOHHHH" look, that is), and gives me a big f (sorry, Dale) ing smile.

Saw them last year in the Purple Turtle. They can play a 500 capacity venue in London, no problem and then they go North and play in half empty 200 capacity. It's good for getting up and close with bands that are massive in London and you can usualy have a chat with the band afterwards as well if you fancy it!

Yeah, a good gig -- and nice to see that the people here are liking the songs. Their first record really pleased me, and the second one really rocks me even though its production is a bit glitzy. But I'd have said that the 400-capacity stage room was 75% full. Not that bad for a Sunday night.... How many people did you say TDS would have drawn in Greece? :P
